Town Meeting

 

Electors and others qualified to vote at are hereby warned of a Town Meeting for the Town of Canaan, CT to be held at the Falls Village Emergency Services Center located at 188 Rt. 7 South, Falls Village, CT on Saturday, June 01, 2024 at 10:00 AM to act on the following:

 

1.     Shall the Town of Canaan appropriate up to the sum of $2,328,687.47 for general municipal purposes for Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025?

 

2.    Shall the Town of Canaan appropriate up to the sum of $2,253,591 for educational expenses for the Lee H. Kellogg School for Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025?

 

(Region One expenses for the Town of Canaan are $1,417,263 which has been approved by referendum bringing the total education expense to $3,670,854)

 

3.     Shall the Town of Canaan add Capital One as one of the approved financial institutions to conduct business with?

 

4.     Shall the Town of Canaan consider and act upon of the "Plan of Conservation and Development" as presented on February 17, 2024?

 

5.     Shall the Town of Canaan consider and act upon "An Ordinance Regarding Allowing Dogs On Property Other Than Owners"?

 

6.      Shall the Town of Canaan consider and act upon amending "An Ordinance Concerning Bazaars and Raffles" (enacted 06/28/1988), bringing said into compliance with Connecticut Public Act 17-231?

 

7.      Shall the Town of Canaan appoint the following as official Depositories of the Town of Canaan: National Iron Bank, Salisbury; NBT Bank, Salisbury and North Canaan; Torrington Savings Bank, Falls Village and Litchfield Bancorp, Salisbury for Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025?

 

7. Any other business to properly come before this meeting

Procedure for the proceedings: Roberts Rules of Order will prevail where not in conflict with Parliamentary Law. In accordance with the principles of deliberative meeting under both Roberts Rules and Parliamentary Law participation will be reserved to those present.
