NOTICE
Please be advised that the Town of Canaan is applying for the 2025 Neglected Cemetery Account Grant Program. Connecticut state law requires we notify the State Historic Preservation Office, direct descendants of the interred, and the probate court with any plans to restore, improve or change an ancient burial ground.
If selected to receive the grant, work will be conducted in Sand Hill Cemetery located at 107 Route 63 North Falls Village Connecticut. Restoration plans include repairing the field stone gate posts and attached bronze memorial plaques at the entrances of the cemetery. The grant is awarded as a one year contract and all work must be completed within that time.

Undermountain (Haskins)- Undermountain Road
Sand Hill - Route 63
Lower City- Undermountain Road
Barrack (Music) Mountain- Music Mountain
Root (Steep Road)- Steep Road
Holabird, Munson, Kellogg- Cobble Road
The Board of Selectmen appoint a Cemetery Sexton who has authority over all town cemeteries. Please contact the sexton for information on purchasing a plot, burials, disinterments or with any other questions.
